Parmigiano Reggiano

This world-famous cheese is often called the King of Cheeses.

It has a very long tradition. It was already produced in the 12th century. It is produced in the region of Parma, Bologna, Reggio Emilia and Mantova.

It is made from cow’s milk and according to strict quality requirements.

The whole production is controlled by a Consortium that was set up in 1934 to guarantee the quality of this PDO product (protected designation of origin).

Yearly about 3 million pieces of Parmigiano Reggiano or 120,000 tons are produced. A large part of the production is exported.

Commint represents one of the larger Italian producers of this cheese.
